Why Duckdex exists
Anyone who collects Picsou Magazine (or another Disney publication) knows the problem: the same stories keep coming back from one issue to another, reprinted years later in a different volume. Hard to tell, in a bookshop or at a flea market, whether the issue in your hands is really worth it — or whether you're about to pay for stories you've already read.
Duckdex solves exactly that. Scan or search for an issue, and you're told right away what percentage of its stories is genuinely new compared to your collection. No more digging through memory or binders before buying.
The catalog (series, issues, stories and their reprints) comes from Inducks, the reference database for Disney comics, and can be completed by hand via an admin panel — it's this groundwork that makes the calculation reliable.
Today Duckdex is a website. A real Android app is planned next, connected to the same API and the same collection — not a wrapper around the site, a genuine native app.
Sources and licence
The catalog of issues and stories comes from Inducks (inducks.org), the free documentary database that catalogs Disney comics published worldwide. It's what lets us know that a story published in 1972 is the same one reprinted forty years later.
« The data presented here is based on information from the freely available Inducks database. »
In accordance with the Inducks licence, Duckdex's data sourced from Inducks — series, issues, stories and their reprints — can be freely used, integrated and redistributed by anyone, under the same terms, provided the origin is credited.
Reproduced covers illustrate issues for identification purposes, at small size and credited. They remain the property of their rights holders — © Disney, and the successive publishers of Picsou Magazine: Édi-Monde, Disney Hachette Presse, then Unique Heritage Media.
Duckdex is not published or endorsed by Disney or any of these publishers. The titles and characters mentioned belong to their respective rights holders. If you hold rights over an image shown here and want it removed, write to us: it will be taken down.
